Railroad authorities require at least two government bodies as sponsors. The city of Mitchell will consider a similar resolution to join the authority during its regular meeting on Monday, June 17.
The county board denied a request from Jensen Capital and Development, of Mitchell, to rezone a parcel of land from agricultural to rural residential and to build 20 lots for two-acre home sites.
“The people at the meeting made it clear they don’t want the range where it’s planned for, but they made it abundantly clear they want a range,” former owner of Boyds' Gunstocks Randy Boyd said.
'I’m definitely pro-business if it’s compatible with the area where it’s being placed,' said Commissioner Dennis Kiner, as competing visions of the street’s future emerged.
