oakland unified school district says he hopes the two sides will continue to meet and avoid a walkout.but oakland education association president keith brown says teachers need a considerate offer from the district..sot: without a very serious proposal bu the school board that addresses smaller class size, more student support a living wage and keeping our neighborhood schools open we could be on strike by the end of the monthteachers are demanding a 12 percent pay increase over the next 3 years. the school district is only offering 5. elementary school teacher chaz garcia says this possible strike is about more than just the pay.. sot: the way that the district is choosing to allocate it s money is not putting students first and so we re saying it s enough of that it s time to put them first.. the union is holding a rally tomorrow at 4:30 in the afternoon at city hall where teachers plan to call on the city council to help with their agenda. reporting in oakland dan thorn kr
good evening, i m ken bastida. i m elizabeth cook. it feels like we ve seen it all.. rain, hail, lightning strikes.. and now snow! we re experiencing the lowest snow levels in the bay area. in years. it s been falling for hours in the santa cruz mountains. here s a live look. near the summit. it s cold.. it s snowy.. it s windy out there tonight. in the east bay: the snow s been coming down on mount diablo.. rangers closed the gate early.. to keep people from driving up there in the snow. and these photos from mount hamilton. the lick observatory getting its share of powder. this just in: icy conditions causing problems on 101 in marin county tonight. right now 3 northbound lanes are shut down.. just north of alexander. earlier.. icy conditions contributed to this nasty crash on 101 southbound. this was the scene just south of marin city.. around 8-30 tonight. several cars crashed.. you can see all the slush on the roads. several lanes were closed for almost an hour.. they r
