Jordan police beat up illegally retained Indian workers protesting for their rights and unpaid wages. Aseel Universal Garments illegally retained workers without permits and visas, denying food and water. In a peaceful protest, police charged at the workers, injuring seven Indians and over 50 others. Despite a court order to settle dues and repatriate the workers, the company has not complied. The Indian Embassy has been informed but has not yet provided assistance. Amid talk of a complete lockdown in Maharashtra to arrest the COVID-19 surge, the passenger rush on outstation trains in Mumbai has increased since the last weekend, Railway sources said on Monday. The Railway administration, however, attributed the passenger rush to the summer season which sees a large number of people travelling to their native places.
