Anfield pupils help to grow Liverpool s new pitch Local school pupils are helping Liverpool FC ground staff to grow grass for the pitch at Anfield this summer as part of the club s Red Way sustainability initiative. Children from Four Oaks Primary School in Anfield will spend the next six weeks growing their own patches of grass, which will then be planted as part of the new turf in preparation for the 2021-22 season. Ahead of National Children’s Gardening Week – which runs from May 29 to June 6 – LFC’s Red Neighbours team visited the school to deliver seeds and planting trays, alongside the club’s head groundsman, Dave Roberts, who shared his expert tips on how to grow the best-quality grass for the team to play on next term. ....
LFC Foundation champions Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 LFC Foundation and its partners are set to celebrate this year s Mental Health Awareness Week (May 10-16) with a host of activities for children, young people and families to enjoy. The Reds official charity, alongside its partners - including the NSPCC, Action For Children and others - will deliver a programme of mental health events and activities that promote positive mental health in local schools, community centres and parks to support youngsters and their families across the Liverpool City Region. The theme for this year s Mental Health Awareness Week is nature and, building on this, LFC Foundation is encouraging local families to join in with their free, multi-sports outdoor sessions to enjoy exercise and fresh air and take advantage of the many health benefits that it provides. ....
LFC Foundation and NSPCC launch partnership to help children LFC Foundation has teamed up with the NSPCC to help improve the lives of children across the city region – forming the first official partnership of its kind between the children s charity and a Premier League club foundation. LFC Foundation already works to support young people across Liverpool and beyond, as do NSPCC practitioners based at the charity’s Hargreaves Centre. Childline volunteers are also based at the charity’s Great Homer Street site and speak to thousands of children across the country each month. The Reds’ official charity and the NSPCC will work together to support even more children and families across the city region, signposting them towards resources and help they might need, and educating adults, parents and supporters with advice on how to spot signs that something might not be right for young people in their area. ....
Kop Kids: Watch Thiago s Spanish and Scouse lesson Sam Williams Watch Thiago Alcantara teach Spanish and learn Scouse in episode two of Kop Kids - Lockdown Lessons, presented by Joie Baby. Pupils from St Marie s Primary School were recently joined by the Liverpool midfielder for a virtual language lesson. Thiago first tested the pupils Spanish vocabulary, before the tables were turned and the kids taught him several essential Scouse phrases. See how the lesson went below. With many children currently having to learn remotely from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, lessons are being delivered virtually by their teachers. And year six pupils from Whitefield Primary School recently logged on to find their history lesson featured a surprise substitute - Mr Robertson. Ahead of this weekend’s Merseyside derby, the Liverpool left-back tested their knowledge of the two clubs while also fielding a variety of questions put to him by the kids. ....
