[Kipsang Joseph, Standard] The Environment and Lands Court has ruled that Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament David Gikaria acquired a 0.101 hectare parcel of land fraudulently. The court made the declaration following a case filed by Galana Oil Kenya Limited against the MP, land registrar Nakuru and the Attorney General in July 2014. The oil company in the suit averred that it purchased the parcel of land on August 7, 2009, took possession of it and was later issued with a title deed on July 26, 2010. Galana Oil said the MP trespassed the property in March 2014. ....
Nakuru MP loses battle for land to oil company Wednesday February 03 2021 By JOSEPH WANGUI Summary Nakuru East MP David Gikaria has lost ownership of a piece of land in Nakuru to a fuel distribution company after a protracted legal battle. Justice Dalmas Ohungo of the Environment and Lands Court in Nakuru found the land measuring approximately 0.101hectares legally belongs to Galana Oil Kenya Limited and ordered for cancellation of the title held by Mr Gikaria. The oil firm moved to court after Mr Gikaria trespassed on the suit property sometime in March 2014 and that upon conducting a search, it discovered that he had fraudulently been issued with a parallel title deed to the suit property. ....
