by Associate Vice President for Research Development A multi-university task force led by Jeff Lewin (Research Integrity) has been recognized by the Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) for its efforts during the pandemic. Lewin and other task force members received the Excellence in Volunteerism award from CSHEMA for creating guidance for restarting university laboratories after pandemic-related closures.  The task force developed a checklist to assist higher education safety specialists and researchers around the country in preparing to safely open and resume laboratory activities. The checklist was also used as the framework for the University’s checklist on ramping up research.

by University Marketing and Communications Has the pandemic impacted your research, scholarship or creative works? If so, University Marketing and Communications wants to share your story in a series of guest blogs on the University research blog, Unscripted.  From closed labs to canceled concerts and gallery shows, to animal and human subject research restrictions, COVID-19 altered many parts of the research, scholarship and creative works ecosystem. Nearly all of the people who work within this area were affected both those who actively produce these works and those who support their production.  The blog series is part of an effort to acknowledge, support and rebuild robust research, scholarship and creative works at Michigan Tech. It will focus on six to eight separate stories, sharing an individual s specific challenge and potential or existing campuswide solutions. The series as a whole is part archive, part brainstorm and is primarily about community listen
