The motor city capital of the world since at least 1915 when there were over 42 Companies Making cars and another 75 Companies Making parts. While other towns build cars, we built lots of cars. The detroit area enjoyed a wealth of strong manufacturing, a lot of it based in the building of carriage bodies but also in building iron stoves, building Railroad Cars, realworld wheels and the rails that go with them. Understood the manufacturing process but also how to deal with steel, iron, rubber. They had all the engineers, designers and toolmakers and the tools they needed to make an auto
