The only pastor in the decades-Âlong history of Red Hill BapÂtist Church in Vine Grove, the Rev. James Royalty, died WedÂnesÂday.
The 91-year-old, who was a founding member of the church, preached at the church until his death â 70 years.
He began the church on June 15, 1950, in a borrowed U.S. Army field tent and stayed with the church the rest of his preaching career.
âGod is able to do wondrous things. Whether or not we decide to do what God wants us to do is left up to us,â he said during a sermon in July 2019 âWe can get so involved in the things of this world we find ourselves limiting God and not really letting him work through us. . Weâve got to have Godâs presence in a real way.â
