Tancoo: NLCB operating like ‘runaway horse’

Davendranath Tancoo, chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), says the NLCB (National Lotteries Control Board) is operating like a “runaway horse with no audit and accountability,” despite spending billions in recent years.
He was speaking at a virtual PAC meeting on Wednesday morning.
He said he “unfortunately” needed to reiterate certain issues as they are yet to be rectified.
They include an outstanding audited financial statement that was supposed to be sent to the auditor general since 2013.
In December 2019, he said, the NLCB was reminded of this and said it would be dealt with soon. But it still has not been sent.
Acting CEO: Udecott strengthening procurement processes

THE Urban Development Corporation of TT (Udecott) has been working since 2015 to strengthen its public procurement processes. This was the assurance given by acting Udecott CEO Tamica Charles-Phillips to members of the Public Accounts Enterprises Committee (PAEC) during a virtual meeting on Wednesday to discuss the company s 2014 and 2015 audited financial statements.
Independent Senator Amrita Deonarine said external stakeholders have claimed, Procurement (in Udecott) is weak in technical expertise resulting in challenges, delays, in procurement. She added, They also mentioned there is an absence of standardised bidding for projects which needs to be reformed.
