Cold front sends temperatures tumbling in advance of Kansas City s next winter storm Robert A. Cronkleton, The Kansas City Star Jan. 22 A day after temperatures hit 60 degrees at Kansas City International Airport, the metro area will face more typical winter weather as a cold front sweeps through the area, according to FOX4 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith. Temperatures today will be about 25 degrees colder than what we saw for highs yesterday, said Bogowith, who provides weather updates to The Star. We ll be back into the middle 30s and see a little bump in temperatures for both Saturday and Sunday getting closer to that 40-degree mark. ....
Jan. 21 The Kansas City area will get another mid-winter treat as highs are expected to climb back into the 50s on Thursday afternoon, but a change is weather is coming, according to FOX4 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith. Columbia treated to pretty snowfall while escaping worst of large winter weather system Columbia was treated to its first significant snowfall of 2021 on Friday when a winter weather system moved through Missouri, blanketing northern parts of the state in heavy layers of frozen precipitation. By midday Friday, about an inch and a half of snow had accumulated in Columbia, with similar amounts falling in the central Missouri area. Up to 3 inches were possible in some areas, according tot he National Weather Service. There s a very strong, low-pressure system, said Ben Herzog, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis. The storm is so strong it s actually managed to wrap precipitation all the way around it, bringing snowfall to a large chunk of the state. ....

The blowing snow is from a winter storm that is limiting visibility in the metro, where Kansas City police responded to dozens of car crashes that caused injures Friday.
