barbara: jon camp has been tracking this for us today. jon: good afternoon. the president gave congress what amounts to a blueprint of what closing down the prison at guantanamo bay might look like. there are as few prisoners there now as any point in the past or teen years. the past 14 years. they would move 30 to 60 prisoners to facilities on the mainland. some of them would likely be tried for military commissions. others remaining detained, perhaps indefinitely. while prisoners deemed low risk, they would be resettled to host countries overseas. this is something the president office. technically he cannot spend any money on this without congressional approval. congress has not been on the his reasoning, largely the same but he could be facing stronger opposition than ever. keeping this facility open is contrary to our values. it undermines our standing in the world. it is viewed as a stain on our broader record of up holding the highest standards of rule of law. jon:
