this is the cbs evening news with jeff glor. glor: this is our western edition. and we re going to begin tonight at the white house with a new cabinet shake-up. late today the commander-in- chief gave the secretary of veterans affairs his discharge papers. david shulkin is being replaced by admiral ronny jackson, white house physician for president obama and now president trump. dr. jackson, you may recall, gave mr. trump his first medical check-up as president and declared him to be in excellent health. shulkin is the 26th top administration official to leave, and jericka duncan at the white house has more on this. reporter: it was another firing via twitter. the president tweeted at 5:30 p.m. that he intends to nominate highly respected admiral ronny jackson as the new secretary of veterans affairs, ending weeks of speculation that dr. david shulkin was on his way out. shulkin was the sole obama cabinet holdover but had recently clashed with members of his own v.a. st
