DIMAPUR In a surprise development, the Khango-led NSCN (K) and Akato-led NSCN (R) have joined forces after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Friday. The MOU was jointly signed by ‘Lt Gen’ (Rtd.) Khango Konyak, chairman NSCN (K), Hokato Vusshe, general secretary NSCN (K), Akato Chophi, chairman NSCN (R) and Michael Yeptho, general secretary NSCN (R). The MOU stated that the two parties desire to enter into an agreement in which they will work together to achieve the various aims and objectives relating to ‘Joint military defence’ and ‘Joint political talks with the Government of India (GoI)’. Under joint military defence, it stated that in the event of assault to any “member” of the “parties” of the agreement by any domestic or foreign enemies, “both the signed parties shall henceforth corroborate to neutralise such threats.” Under Joint political talks with the GOI, it stated that “both the parties have in ‘letter and spirit’ agreed to pursu ....
