April Unemployment Rate Highlights State s Economic Recovery Thursday, May 20, 2021 Tennessee’s statewide unemployment rate for April 2021 decreased by double digits when compared to data from the previous year. In April 2020, the state’s jobless rate reached a record high during the economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to data released from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Tennessee’s preliminary, seasonally adjusted rate for April is 5 percent. That’s down 0.1 of a percentage point from March’s revised rate of 5.1 percent. Unemployment reached an all-time high in April 2020, at the height of business closures due to the pandemic.

Road Rage Incident On 153 Leads To Car Being Shot Up, Alleged Racial Slurs Friday, May 21, 2021
An Ooltewah man is in custody after police said he shot at a man and a pregnant woman following a road rage incident, allegedly screamed racial slurs, shot up the victims’ car, and lied to law enforcement during the investigation.
Michael Shane Roberts, 55, of 8680 Kennerly Court, is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, reckless endangerment, vandalism and reckless driving.
The sheriff’s office responded to a shooting at Waconda Shore Drive on Feb.
