In a Friday afternoon news dump, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo announced that she is nominating former top aide and sometimes acting Chief of Staff David Cruise to a seat on the Rhode Island Superior Court.
Raimondo’s office said, I am writing to share that several members of the Governor’s cabinet and senior staff will be leaving their positions.
In addition, in the last minute resignations and the appointment of Cruise, a former State Senator and presently a state house lobbyist, she announced she is appointing:

Raimondo continues making nominations on her way out the door
Gov. Gina Raimondo nominated her former legislative director to a Superior Court judgeship on Friday as she prepares to leave office, while several top aides announced they were leaving her administration.
David Cruise, a former state senator and aide to the chief of staff to Gov. Bruce Sundlun before his stint in Raimondo s office, was Raimondo s choice for a lifetime spot on the Superior Court bench. If confirmed by the Senate, he would replace Judge Bennett Gallo, who retired last February from the $170,545 a year post.
Cruise is also a second cousin and longtime friend of Lt. Gov. Dan McKee, who is set to become governor when Raimondo is sworn in as U.S. commerce secretary. ....

PROVIDENCE  By the end of this week, Lieutenant Governor Dan McKee may see his seven-member staff swell to more than 50.
That includes the 40-plus employees on current Gov. Gina Raimondo s $4-million office payroll at salaries ranging from $43,153 to $193,758, plus the handful reporting to her who are on the payrolls of other state agencies.
For example: McKee, who is queued up to take over as governor when Raimondo wins anticipated confirmation as President Joe Biden s commerce secretary, has his own chief of staff. So does Raimondo.
McKee s chief of staff is former Cumberland Police Chief Anthony Silva, who previously headed the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles. ....
