You know, its been in the news quite a bit lately, and so i think its a topic that folks are interested in Historic Preservation like yourselves have got to figure out. And we have a really fun opportunity, i would say, to try to make sense of all of this. So in order to do that i think we should go and think a little bit about not just where these monuments came from but the war out of which they came. At the beginning of the american civil war, United States soldiers seemed to take a great deal of care to leave private property, really all kinds of property alone. They really very strictly held to attacking military targets only.
