So it is when Kenneth Widmerpool in Anthony Powell’s A Dance to the Music of Time (a character clearly based on Shakespeare’s Malvolio in Twelfth Night) has a shaker of sugar emptied over his head, or when in Evelyn Waugh’s letters he misreads instructions and explodes 10 times the intended amount of dynamite, bringing down the roof of half a house, including that of a toilet on which someone is sitting (luckily without fatal results). ....
captions paid for by nbc-universal television good morning, everyone. welcome to today on a sunday morning. i m lester holt. and i m jenna wolfe. and it s so great, how refreshing it is to wake up to breaking news that s good news for a change. these pictures posted on her facebook by staffers, they were apparently taken may 17th. i guess it was the day after her husband, mark kelly, went up on the shuttle. it s the first time we ve seen her face since she was shot back in january. we ve seen a couple other photos in the hospital room. she looks great. she looks fantastic. it s amazing to think it was over five months ago already this happened. it s been a long road of recovery for her. you wonder how much of it she remembers and how much of the last five months she remembers. she looks really happy here. i remember being there in tucson hours after the shooting and covering it. six people died and we heard the grave wound she received and the vigils outside ....
