Conservatives lose majority in 2021 Isle of Wight council election
Here’s what’s changed at the Isle of Wight council since the count started at 9.30am this morning
All the results are in and Conservatives have lost their majority (23-seats) with just 18 seats.
Weekend of negotiation
With 18 Conservatives, 13 Independent, two Green, two Island Independent Network, one Labour, one Our Island, one Lib Dem, one Vectis Party, it will be a weekend of negotiation for parties or groups to meet the required 20 seats for a majority.
Return of former councillors
Former councillors returning to the council include Jonathan Bacon, Phil Jordan and Daryll Pitcher who all lost their seats in the 2017 election. ....

Hillman Minx's one of the family for more than three decades | Isle of Wight County Press

A 1959 Hillman Minx series 3a has been a treasured part of the Beston family of Shanklin for 33 years.
Michael Beston explained: My wife first saw the vehicle for sale in a local newspaper when we lived in Kent in 1987.

It really appealed to her as this was the same model of her first car she purchased after passing her driving test. I also learned to drive in a Hillman, so the attachment seemed quite natural.
We viewed the car a few days later, and we both fell in love with it right then. The car had covered very little mileage and was in extremely good original condition, albeit, a little neglected. We could both see the potential in the Minx, and after a very short negotiation with the owner, we bought our first and only 1950s classic car time capsule. ....
