Scottish hospitality industry argues travel restrictions being lifted are key to operating

The hospitality industry may be able to reopen towards the end of April
Scottish hospitality businesses believe the route map out of lockdown revealed by the First Minister did not offer a clear plan and argued without travel restrictions being lifted it would be difficult to operate.
Scotland will return to a regional levels system from the last week in April if virus suppression continues, Nicola Sturgeon said earlier this week.
The First Minister told MSPs the five-level system, separated by council areas, will return and she hopes those in Level 4 will be able to drop down to Level 3, which would see sectors such as non-essential retail reopen, along with pubs, restaurants and hairdressers. ....

'The recipes and stories were awe-inspiring' - Scottish chefs and producers reveal their favourite cookbooks in time for World Book Day

Submitting.
As World Book Day (March 4) approaches, we asked chefs and producers to reveal their most inspirational read.
“I could spend my last penny on cookbooks. They’re an art form, deeply personal to the author and a labour of love. Transcending time and place, they instantly transport the reader anywhere the world. I love
Barrafina - a Spanish Cookbook by Sam and Eddie Hart and Nieves Barragan Mohacho for these reasons.
I adored growing, picking, shelling and podding broad beans as a child in our kitchen garden. Their
broad beans and goats’ cheese on toast recipe is simple but clever, like all of Nieves’ recipes. It can be made all year round with frozen broad beans and whatever young lemony goats cheese you can find. The reduced Pedro Jimenez vinegar is genius. I sometimes add beetroot for colour and contrast to the vibrant green of the broad beans and crisp white of the cheese”. ....

First look round Glasgow restaurant which reopens its doors on Christmas Eve

A West End restaurant will reopen its doors for the first time in months on Christmas Eve despite new restrictions coming into place which will affect it within days.
The renamed Ziques in Hyndland had been planning to reopen this week following a major revamp and menu change including out with the breakfasts and in with a new cuisine.
After it was revealed on Saturday that parts of Scotland will be plunged into the most severe restriction level 4 from Boxing Day, the former Café Zique has now had to revise plans.

Glasgowist: Owner reveals revamp for Cafezique

Signs of activity last week had locals curious about the return of a neighbourhood favourite.
The headline news is Cafezique has become Zique’s, a redesigned restaurant and bar.
The emphasis on their scene-stealing brunch will be replaced by an all-day and night-time hospitality offering, reflecting the commitment to produce and hospitality that made this place a success the first-time round.
Owner Mhairi Taylor is busy getting things ready when I catch her for a chat. I had been told about the new look, but I wanted to know about the food. Will any items on the old menu make it through to the reimagined version? ....
