Wellington bus service Metlink is defending its decision to stop posting bus cancellations on Twitter, despite furious commuters accusing it of hiding the amount of disruption.
Metlink Wellington posted last week that from August 1 it would no longer use Twitter to live update its services, instead using app, website and email notifications.
The backlash was swift, with people questioning why Metlink was trying to hide the number of cancellations which are notoriously high.
In May, more than 3000 buses were cancelled in the Capital due to a driver shortage. ....
