Unfair distribution of house work affects women s mental health, Dr. Gia Sison said during TELUS International Philippines and Messy Bessy s conference for Women s Month on Tuesday.
Among the factors that affect women s mental health are the unfair distribution of care work at home as well as the sudden increase of parenting demands amid the pandemic.
Inequality will always lead to negative stress and that encompasses everything, be it personal life, social life, and everything the person is, Sison said.
She added, Shared responsibility is encouraged and again, know when to set your boundaries. ....

Support groups are a good way to get informational and emotional help, especially if you’re dealing with mental health issues.
During TELUS International Philippines and Messy Bessy’s conference for Women’s Month on Tuesday, occupational medicine specialist Dr. Gia Sison said support groups offered “psychological safe spaces” where people could come together to talk about a challenge or experience without being judged, blamed, stigmatized, or isolated.
“There’s no expectation to fix themselves or one another,” she said. “Support groups allow women to own their concerns and provide space for healing.” ....
