Knowe Favourite Beauty 166 VG89-3yr topped the sale at 8000gns Top prices of 8000gns, 4200gns, 4100gns and 4000gns were achieved at the Templeton family s Knowe Ayrshire production sale at Carlisle. The sale, celebrating the family s 100 years farming at the Knowe, Auchinleck, Ayrshire, was topped by the maximum pointed three-year-old, Knowe Favourite Beauty 166, by West Mossgiel Modern Classic. Bred from the Ex90 Knowe Favourite Beauty 140, she calved her second in March, and sold sexed to Margot Player, to Northern Ireland breeder, John Hunter, buying for the Ardmore herd from Crumlin. No fewer than 55 lots sold at or above £2000, with Lanarkshire breeder, John Adamson, Swaites, Pettinain, buying the second highest priced lot at 4200gns. His purchase, Knowe White Lily 796, a 23-month-old heifer sold sexed to De La Plaine B-King for next month.
A large tractor dispersal sale at Holsworthy Market saw high bids and competitive bidding. Topping the day was an impressive £23,200 paid by Mrs Hill of Blisland for a Zetor Proxima tractor. Coming second was £21,800 for a McCormick X60. There were more than 1,400 lots in the combined live and online sale on April 17 at Holsworthy Market. The dispersal of tractors and equipment on behalf of Ken Boundy of Morwenstow topped at £11,500 for the 1991 registered Ford 7810 with the Ford 6600 from the same farm at £6,050. After a bidding war, conducted both online and in the yard, both tractors went home with the a farmer from East Devon.
