. i m eric thomas. bart plans to reopen the civic station in less than two hours. last night bart police shot and killed a man. amy hollyfield is live in civic center bart with more on the investigation. bart police tell us they found a couple of knives and broken glass from a bottle. they got the call from 9:30 about a man who appeared to be drunk on the platform of the civic center station he was brandishing a knife. he even fell down on the platform. the next call dispatch received is that shots had been fired. they don t know exactly what happened. investigators say there is evidence there was a confrontation. one of the officers involved got shards of glass in his arm and we recovered two knives. we believe two or three credible witnesses that are also being interviewed. police say they don t know much about the man who was killed just that he is a white male, somewhere between 30 and 50 years old. they don t know where he is from. san francisco police are invest
