Daniel “Dan” Zinda, 85, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully at 6pm on May 14, 2023, with family by his side. Daniel was born on October 18, 1937, in Tyler, MN and grew up in Ivanhoe, MN. Dan lost his father Robert at an early age and his mother continued his upbringing. Dan moved to the Twin City’s, his first job was as a soup can maker and later as a luggage salesman. As a used car salesman in MN and then Grand Forks, ND his mentor and boss Alan Eide offered him an acquisition into the mobile home business that later successfully blanketed every major town in ND. That success earned the trust of skillful investors and his foray into the hotel business was catapulted from the Mermaid Hotel in Detroit Lakes, MN to many nationally known brand hotels in North Dakota. His favorite, the Best Western Doublewood Inn of Fargo, ND changed the landscape of the city. The love of his ND and MN upbringing was obvious by his community involvement.
