Lilian Garcia-Roig, chair and professor in the Department of Art, is one of 184 Guggenheim Fellows selected to the class of 2021.
Florida State University’s Lilian Garcia-Roig, an internationally recognized visual artist specializing in painting from the College of Fine Arts, has been awarded a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship.

Garcia-Roig, chair and professor in the Department of Art, is one of 184 Guggenheim Fellows selected to the class of 2021. They were among a group of about 3,000 artists, writers, scholars and scientists who participated in the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation’s 97th competition. The FSU Alumni Association was recognized with a 2021 CASE District III award and received Grand Gold in the category of Alumni/General Interest Magazines produced two times per year for its biannual alumni publication, VIRES magazine.
Mackenzie Alston, Ph.D. (Department of Economics) was selected for a post-doctoral fellowship from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) to support diversity in economics. The one-year fellowship is open to early-career economists from historically underrepresented demographics within the economics profession and to researchers studying diversity issues.
Alex Meyer, Ph.D. (Department of Psychology) received an award for Distinguished Early Career Contribution to Psychophysiology from the Society for Psychophysiological Research. ....

FSU to host 11th annual Florida Undergraduate Research Conference

FURA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the understanding of research and creative activity across all disciplines.
For the first time in 11 years, Florida State University will host the 2021 Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC) Feb. 26-27, 2021.
This virtual event will allow more than 700 students from 27 institutions across the state of Florida to present and discuss their research safely. Sixty-two undergraduate students will represent FSU at this year’s conference, reflecting the wide diversity of academic disciplines at Florida State, including health, dance, history and entrepreneurship. ....

The University of Wyoming Art Museum will feature the 46th annual Juried UW Student Exhibition during a free virtual reception to celebrate the exhibitions for the spring semester Friday, Feb. 19, at 6 p.m.
The University of Wyoming Art Museum will feature the 46th annual Juried UW Student Exhibition during a free virtual reception to celebrate the exhibitions for the spring semester Friday, Feb. 19.
A virtual gallery walk-through of the current exhibitions with specially paired music will start at 6 p.m., and the student awards ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Although the reception is free, preregistration is required. In a first-of-its-kind virtual faculty exhibition, Florida State University’s Museum of Fine Arts (MoFA) has brought together the six schools and departments in the College of Fine Arts for a celebration and exploration of the power of research in the arts.
“What It Takes” features work from faculty across the college, showing the strengths, visions and skills of its many esteemed artists, performers, choreographers, designers and historians.
