Mercer Island City Council gave the nod for City Manager Jessi Bon to renew the Island’s interlocal agreement for jail services with King County at its Feb. 21 meeting.
Mercer Island Presbyterian Church was the recipient of the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (MIYFS) Foundation philanthropy award at its annual fundraising breakfast on Feb. 8 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center. Master of ceremonies and KUOW host Bill Radke said the church community exemplifies the breakfast theme of “Community, Connection, Compassion” by raising more than $15,000 for YFS during the church’s annual holiday campaign, “Give From the Heart,” and has provided more than $40,000 in financial support to YFS over the years. The church congregation has also engaged in critical work focused on education, food insecurity, homelessness and mental health through monetary gifts, donations, volunteerism and prayer, said Radke, adding that the churc
