At its June 4 meeting, the Mercer Island City Council approved a pair of proclamations to establish June as Pride Month on the Island and June 19 as Juneteenth on the Island.
Mercer Island resident Judy Kusakabe will discuss “Behind the Barbed Wire: The Incarceration of Japanese Americans” in a Mercer Island Historical Society-presented event at 6 p.m. on May 29 at the Mercer Island Library (4400 88th Ave. SE).
The Friends of Mercer Island Library will hold its annual book sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1; from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 2; and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 at 4400 88th Ave. SE.
