Mercedes confirm Grosjean test still going ahead

Romain Grosjean’s Mercedes test at Paul Ricard is still going to take place despite the fact that the French GP has been moved.
Grosjean had far from a fairytale ending to his F1 career spanning over a decade, with his horrific crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix proving to be the final chapter of it.
After the crash though,
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff stated that, if the Frenchman couldn’t drive again before the end of his final season, the German team would offer him a test day in one of their cars.

Mercedes are offering “double the salary” to persuade their engine staff to stay, says Helmut Marko, but six have already joined Red Bull.
Creating the ‘Red Bull Powertrain’ division to run their Honda engines in 2022, and design their own power unit in the years to come, Red Bull began a staff drive.
And they did their shopping at Mercedes.
The team first announced Ben Hodgkinson as their engine technical director, before confirming another five signings in the build-up to the Spanish Grand Prix. A seventh, Red Bull’s new head of mechanical development, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Romain Grosjean will drive a Formula One car for the first time since his fiery crash in Bahrain last November when he tries out Lewis Hamilton s 2019 title-winning Mercedes at Le Castellet in June.
Mercedes said the 35-year-old will perform demonstration laps before his home French Grand Prix on June 27, and then test at the southern circuit on June 29 – seven months to the day since the crash.
