It’s been a demanding year for mental health professionals the world over.
Seeing how packed their schedules were getting, a group of more than 100 Tennessean mental health experts decided to set aside time to help essential workers pro bono. The result was Mental Health Active Response Team, a statewide organization that connects mental health professionals who want to volunteer their time with essential workers looking for support.
After filling out a short form at MHART’s website (mharttn.org), a worker is given contact information for an available counselor who fits their schedule and needs and is willing to provide the first four sessions free. Another service that MHART provides is its emotional support line, which offers short phone calls ....
