Cherry Street Tavern Takes Former Spot Of Mad Priest Thursday, January 21, 2021 - by Gail Perry The Cherry Street Tavern, a new restaurant, is moving into the space at 719 Cherry Street, the former location of Mad Priest. The owners, Martin Thomas Bohannon and George Louis MacEwan, have a combined 40 years of experience in the food service business. Their new restaurant received a beer license at the Thursday morning meeting of the Chattanooga Beer Board. The restaurant will serve food and beer and, in the future, has plans to serve alcohol. There will also be music.
Cheese Dip Mexican Grill, 3643 Hixson Pike, Unit D, is a family owned, small, family style restaurant. It has been open for about a year without selling beer, but has now been approved for a consumer and carry-out beer permit for the purpose of increasing business. New Online Permitting Process Should Streamline Beer Board Meetings Thursday, January 7, 2021 - by Gail Perry Chattanooga has just implemented a new online system for business owners to apply for a permit to sell beer. The new application process is welcomed by the nine members of the Chattanooga Beer Board who volunteer their time. Many lengthy meetings take place with few beer license applications being approved due to the business owners not having all the required inspections or documentation that is required by the city. Assistant City Attorney Melinda Foster told multiple applicants at the Thursday morning meeting of the beer board that permits cannot be approved contingent upon receiving information later. ....
