Khopotso Mangoenyane Bodibe, or Khops, as he was known, was one-in-a-million. It was groundbreaking work.  Khops was a colleague and friend; we drove thousands of kilometres to report on the HIV epidemic in our country, slept in many dodgy places, shared many meals and discussed everything from life to love to safe sex to cooking a pig’s head. His social media pages reveal how he urged people to mask up, get the vaccine and not to listen to the denialists.

Teenage pregnancies in Africa rocket during Covid-19 lockdown By Rapula Moatshe Share Pretoria – Many young girls across the continent won t be returning to schools under the eased lockdown restrictions due to a high number of pregnancies that occurred since the Covid-19 pandemic hit Africa. This was the sad reality shared yesterday by participants during a virtual round-table discussion hosted by MenEngage Africa. Speakers deliberated on the impact of Covid-19 on the lives of men and women, and its effects on gender-based violence. Teenage pregnancies were also highlighted as having been on the increase during the pandemic period. According to a report by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), around one million girls across sub-Saharan Africa who fell pregnant during Covid-19 school closures will not be returning to school.
