Sent from dr. Fords attorney to the Senate Judiciary chairman, saying that she is prepared to potentially testify next week. As you note, though, they said monday will not work for them, essentially. But they said she wishes to testify, provided that we can agree on terms that are fair and which ensure her safety. They also go on in this letter, notably, brooke, to again say their strong preference would be to have an fbi investigation first, but they did not stipulate that that was required for her to testify. And thats an important point here. So the big question, of course, is, what, of course, are those fair terms that they outlined . And that really is important, because thats where the devil is in the details now. And where, honestly, this could either come together or fail and fall apart, again. And weve seen them over the last 48 hours, through attorneys and through aides, really grappling, what are those fair terms. Will there be outside witnesses . Where will this happen . Wi
Me here or there . Sandra safe in our studio. Good to see you, bill. Im sandra smith. The president will be traveling to North Carolina to bear witness to rising floodwaters threatening homes in the state. Bill an attorney for the accuser now saying her client will not testify on monday unless the f. B. I. Opens an investigation into her claims. There should be an investigation. Thats the right thing to do. If there is not an investigation would she appear on monday . She is prepared to cooperate with the committee and any Law Enforcement investigation. That has been her position and continues to be her position. She will cooperate with the committee in whatever form that takes. Sandra peter doocy is live on capitol hill this morning. If dr. Ford does not testify monday, how much longer will the kavanaugh confirmation be delayed . Not long. The republicans say they gave her a weeks notice. If she doesnt show up its time to move on. Corker says this, after learning of the allegations ch
Including only members of the committee, no lawyers can question her. Kavanaugh cannot be in the room at the time and kavanaugh should be questioned first. Huh. To analyze we turn to ben shapiro were the editor in chief of the daily wire. Com. And the special Election Special debuting tomorrow night. He joins me now. Before we get anything under way here. We have to preface this by saying i dont know what happened 35 years ago, you dont know what happened 35 years ago. I believe ford believes something bad happened that night 35 years ago, whether its a hazy memory, kavanaugh is lying, shes lying, they both misremembered it or its a case of mistaken identity. But with that said, id like to hear and what im skeptical about now personally is the timing of this whole thing as it came up through august and then september through feinstein and the people that are running. You have a professional in the Democratic Party advising her. And the way the democrats have played this. What say you .
Might ask. Brett kavanaugh spent nine hours at the white house yesterday. That could tell you something. And pretty much at this point, every member on the committee is weighing in. I talked to him on the phone today. What did he say to you . He didnt do that. And he wasnt at the party. So you know, theres clearly somebody is mixed up. I think its important that dr. Ford have a chance to be heard. And for the American People to reach their own conclusions. This dramatic moment draws so many parallels to another dramatic showdown in 1991 when anita hill testified she was sexually harassed by then Supreme Court nominee, now Justice Clarence thomas, and anita hill herself is speaking out wrirb in a New York Times oped saying this, there is no way to redo 1991, but there are ways to do better. So what is likely to happen monday . And lets be honest, in the days before then. Lets start over on capitol hill. Manu raju is there. Manu, so now even democrats now even before the hearing, democra
Strange, right . I mean, there will be in that hearing room, we expect, Democratic Senators asking questions of Brett Kavanagh and Christine Blasey ford. And then when its the republican senators time, they will not say anything and instead they will defer to this pinch hitter, this outside counsel who has come in. That does not happen in confirmation hearings. We think that it hasnt happened in decades, if at all, in modern times. That announcement that they were going to do that over the objections of one of the two witnesses at the hearing, and then the announcement that they had hired somebody but were not allowed to know who it is, its all so weird. You know, im ready to stand corrected by a senate historian, but i believe there has never been, never been outside counsel asking questions in a confirmation hearing. Only in the major and unusual and special investigation hearings like watergate have they done that. So its beyond unusual. I believe in confirmation hearings. Its never
