Kati Bihu celebration cum awareness on agriculture held in Karbi Anglong

Our Correspondent Diphu, Oct. 18 (EMN): The Kati Bihu and Agriculture Awareness Campaign Committee of the Agriculture department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC)  organised a Kati Bihu celebration cum  awareness campaign at Manja Kheroni on Tuesday. Participating in the programme, MLA of Howraghat, Dorsing Ronghang told the farmers that the government of Assam is procuring paddy directly from farmers. Ronghang said, “Never before has the government procured paddy from farmers. Farmers have to sell their paddy at a low price at market.  But now the Assam government has introduced a scheme called Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board (State Agency) for procurement of paddy from farmers.” The Assam government is procuring per quintal paddy for INR 2400 from farmers where money is transferred through bank account of the farmers, the MLA said.   Ronghang also said it is the farmers who need more paddy. KAAC nominated members administered oath of office

Our Correspondent Diphu, July 8 (EMN): The four nominated Members of Autonomous Council (MAC) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KACC) were administered the oath of office here on Friday. The election to the 26 seats of the KAAC was held on June 8, where all the seats were won by BJP. The KAAC, governed under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India, can induct four as nominated members. The four nominated members namely Phenpiga Rengma, former chairman of Sports and Youth Development Board, KAAC; Mukut Mahanta, former MAC from Deopani; Dr. Mongve Rongpi and Krishna Bahadur Bhatarai Chetry were administered the oath of office by the deputy commissioner, Dibakar Nath, on behalf of the Governor of Assam, held at the auditorium of new KAAC Secretariat building on Friday. KAAC newly elected members sworn in - Eastern Mirror

Our Correspondent Diphu, June 20 (EMN): The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected 26 Members of Autonomous Council (MAC) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) was held at Karbi Cultural Complex, Taralangso on Monday. The oath of office was administered by Dibakar Nath, Deputy Commissioner, Karbi Anglong in the presence of Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi as the chief guest and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as the guest of honour. The BJP won by absolute majority securing 26 out of 26 MAC constituencies for the first time in the history of KAAC without a single opposition member.  In the next meeting, the MACs will vote or decide on who will be the Chief Executive Member (CEM). Preparations for KAAC MAC oath taking in progress

Our CorrespondentDiphu, June 18 (EMN): Preparations for the oath-taking ceremony of the 26 elected Members of Autonomous Council (MAC) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), scheduled on June 20 is in progress at Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso. Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, being the guardian of the 6th Schedule, will administer the oath of office to all the 26 elected MACs in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other state ministers. Mukul Kumar Saikia, Principal Secretary, KAAC informed that from the conduct of election to oath-taking, the DC is authorised by the governor but the KAAC is also assisting in the making of pandals and other arrangements.   The principal secretary also informed that the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the other two 6th Scheduled Autonomous Councils of Dima Hasao and Bodo Territorial Region are invited.
