Named: 9 Gladstone region groups share in $263K funding

Nine Gladstone groups have been selected to share in more than $263,000 in State Government funding.
The Palaszczuk government announced Tuesday that grant recipients for round 108 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund had been made official.
Seven hundred non-for-profit organisations across Queensland are set to benefit from $17.5 million in funding.
From those, the following local organisations were selected to receive funding this round:
Early Settlers Shooting Association Inc., $31,406 to install shade structures.
Gladstone Calliope Equestrian Group Incorporated, $34,815 to purchase equipment and upgrade facilities.
Gladstone Roller Derby Inc., $11,550 to purchase a trailer.
Gladstone Thistle Pipe Band Inc., $21,487 to upgrade the facility and purchase equipment. ....

Butcher: Budget a 'rip off' for Queenslanders

Two Central Queensland politicians have voiced their contrasting opinions on the rollout of the Federal Government’s 2021 budget.
Member for Flynn Ken O’Dowd said Australians were well on the road to recovery, with the Federal Government promising to rebuild the economy and create more jobs after a COVID-19 induced recession.
“Australia entered the crisis from a position of economic strength having brought the Budget back to balance for the first time in 11 years,” Mr O’Dowd said.
“This provided us with the fiscal firepower to support the Flynn community when we needed it most including record funding for schools, hospitals, aged care, mental health and the NDIS.” ....

Stronger Communities Gladstone share in $2.5m DV funding

Preventing domestic violence in the Gladstone region has been given a boost, with Stronger Communities sharing in part of $2.5m to help address the escalating problem.
The partnership funding between state and federal governments aims to help domestic, family and sexual violence service providers respond to the complexities and challenges resulting from COVID-19.
Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher said $56,387 would help Stronger Communities Ltd provide a vital service helping families in the region with domestic and family violence.
“It is fantastic to see the Stronger Communities Ltd as one of the successful recipients as they assist victims of domestic and family violence and support them in the safest and most appropriate way for their individual needs,” Mr Butcher said. ....

Vital community service gets funding boost

A crucial social service in the Gladstone region is set to benefit from State Government funding to the tune of $124,000.
The funding for the Gladstone Neighbourhood Centre means it can continue to deliver vital services to the community.
Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher said the centre was a cornerstone of the local community.
“It provides services and support to some of our most vulnerable residents,” Mr Butcher said.
“We are pleased that the Gladstone Regional Council will continue as the operator of the
neighbourhood centre, working in conjunction with other service providers and local support
services to deliver vital community and social supports to local people. ....
