Buncombe County cut restaurant capacity to 30%, stricter than the state-mandated 50%, without community-based data proving local restaurants  role in the spread of COVID, the county told the Citizen Times.
In terms of specific local numbers, the county health staff have never been able to provide breakouts by percentage of how COVID is understood to be spread through various sectors so to speak,  Buncombe County Board of Commissioners chairman Brownie Newman told the Citizen Times on Jan. 21.  For example, what percentage of COVID transmission has been spread during church services, school attendance, indoor dining, other work spaces, other social gatherings, etc. ....

Buncombe County Health officials launched the newest round of vaccinations Jan. 11, moving from only frontline health care workers to anyone 75 and older, what Public Health Director Stacie Saunders called an exciting day.
North Carolina added 5,936 new COVID-19 cases to its dashboard Jan. 11, two days after setting a new record for new daily cases with 11,581 reported Jan. 9.
The addition increased the total in the state to 629,124 since the start of the pandemic. 
As of Jan. 9, COVID-19 deaths in the state totaled 7,578. ....
