Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong has confirmed this evening that there are 11 new positive COVID-19 cases.
Ten of the new cases are from one household in Kinoya linked to the Extra Supermarket cluster.
He says the eleventh case is a work contact of case 206 from the Samabula cluster, who works for FICAC.
Ten cases were announced earlier today.
Doctor Fong says contact tracing investigations are ongoing and the public should expect to see the Ministry teams on the ground conducting these investigations throughout Suva. ....

Results of the remaining 4000 of the 11,000 total backlogged samples that were sent to two private laboratories in Melbourne, Australia, for testing are back and there are zero positive results reported.
While confirming this, Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong said their reference lab, the Melbourne Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory at the Doherty Institute, is now conducting verification of these results.
Meanwhile a total of 2496 samples were tested yesterday.
Dr Fong also confirmed that an average of 2.8 tests per 1000 population was conducted daily over the last 7 days, with 2.8 tests per 1000 population also in the last day.
The daily average of testing over the last 7 days is 2496 tests per day and the 7 day average daily test positivity is at 0.5 per cent, and also 0.8 per cent in the last day. ....

Fiji’s Ministry of Health has received the results from the remaining 4000 of the 11,000 total backlogged samples that were sent for testing to two private laboratories in Melbourne, Australia.
In its COVID-19 update this evening, the ministry stated there were zero positive results reported from those samples.
“Our reference lab, the Melbourne Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory at the Doherty Institute, is now conducting verification of these results,” it stated.
