Mipig Café is home to a variety of piglets and micropigs, a term for small breeds of domestic pigs, that guests can pet, cuddle and watch play while enjoying coffee and dessert. The pigs range between 2 months and 2 years old, and, despite the term micropig, can get as big as around 90 pounds when fully grown. As a studied Urushi-Art (Japanese Lacquer) at Tokyo University of the Arts, Nakamura has been creating sculptures with streamlined shapes since 1998. The solo presentation showcases his signature work entitled “Replica Series,” replicating futuristic jet aircrafts to symbolize modern society with “speed” and “remodeling.” In recent years, he has produced robotic work of artificial life featuring biological traits, all of which follow the aesthetic of custom paint culture.
