Former Navy WAVE Honored On Her 100th Birthday


When a young farm girl from Milton, Vermont, decided to serve her country during World War II by joining the WAVES her parents received a letter from the Navy.
The letter, dated 11 August 1944, congratulated them on their daughter’s service, and assured them that she would be cared for and “protected” in every way possible while serving in the Navy.

Cape Cod nursing homes balance COVID-19 prevention, social isolation


“It’s fine,” Eldredge said, before heading back indoors.
The Dec. 24 visit with her children was brief, but Kenny Eldredge and Christine Skidmore said they were thrilled they got to see their mother in person   the day before Christmas.
“Even if it’s only a half-hour, it’s great,” Skidmore said.
