Planted Detroit's crops aren't produced in a field like the majority of greens and herbs. The company, founded in 2018, uses hydroponics and LED lights to cultivate its products inside a 20,000-square-foot vertical farm at 1000 Mt. Elliott St. This is not your typical farm. For one, it's inside a 20,000-square-foot industrial brick building. And the inside of the facility resembles something you might see in a science fiction movie.
