Braving coronavirus threat, a large number of people were gathered at Jammu s Lower Barnai locality to receive the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commando, Rakesh Singh Manhas, who reached his residence this afternoon after being abducted by Maoists following a deadly encounter in Bijapur area of Chhattisgarh in the first week of April.
Locals and family members were in a festive mood as it was nothing short of Diwali at Manhas house. As soon as he reached his house, his daughter installed a Tilak on his forehead to welcome the commando.

The family members of captured CRPF commando Rakeshwar Singh Manhas on Wednesday held a protest march in Jammu and blocked the highway demanding his release. They lashed out at the J&K administration and the Centre for not giving them any information since Saturday on Manhas.

JAMMU, Apr 8: The festivities began at the house of Constable Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, a CoBRA commando from Jammu, as the news of his release from the captivity of the Naxals came out this evening.
As soon as the visuals of the Rakeshwar stepping out of an ambulance was aired by some news channels, there was no end to the happiness of the family members, their relatives, friends and neighbours, and everybody was celebrating in one way or other.
As per the reports, the son of the soil was released by the Naxals after a team of two eminent people, including a person from the tribal community, was nominated by the Chhattisgarh Government to secure his release.

New Delhi, April 7: Two incidents reported recently have brought into sharp focus the trail of death and sorrow that mindless terrorism leaves in its wake. One is about a Kashmiri father pleading that his son, a soldier in the Territorial Army, be declared a martyr while the other is of a helpless wife appealing for the release of her husband being held captive by Naxal extremists.
The second incident pertains to the Central Reserve Police Force jawan, Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, from Jammu, who is missing after the recent Sukma-Bijapur border encounter between armed forces and Naxals.

Jammu, April 7 : The wife of abducted Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, says that no assurance has been given by the J&K administration or the Central government on bringing back her husband safely.
Manhas, who belongs to the elite CoBRA unit of the CRPF, is believed to have been taek away by the Maoists, which carried out the last week s deadly attack in Chhattisgarh, that left 22 personnel of the CRPF and the state police dead.
