Print media should reinvent itself in social media age, says Rupin Sharma

Our Correspondent/Reporter Kohima/Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): Director General of Police (Prisons, Home Guards, Civil Defence and SRDF), Rupin Sharma, on Wednesday called for print media to reinvent itself, lest it is “rendered redundant” in the age of social media. He was speaking on the occasion of National Press Day organised by the Kohima Press Club in Kohima on Wednesday. He also pointed out that investigative journalism is lacking in Nagaland media, which is important for every media in the state and country. He viewed fear of governance, peer pressure, inability to take the story out, and lack of confidence and conviction, as some reasons for the lack of investigative journalism in the state. Towards this, he challenged more investigative journalists who can collaborate with activists in the future. Sharma also said Nagaland media is the least corrupted and polluted, ‘except on tribal lines’. The DGP also emphasised on the importance of getting the “fact at the top”. “ ....

KPC announces list of selected persons for media fellowship

Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): Medolenuo Ambrocia of East Mojo (Kohima), Limasenla Jamir of The Morung Express (Mokokchung), and Henlly Phom Odyuo of Eastern Mirror (Dimapur) have been selected for the Kohima Press Club and Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (KPC-NBOCWWB) Media Fellowship 2022. Informing this in a press release, KPC general secretary, Atono Tsukru Kense, stated that under the fellowship programme, the selected media persons would receive a grant of INR 50,000 for five in-depth stories highlighting the experiences and challenges faced by the construction industry in Nagaland, which should be written and published over a period of three months from September to November 2022. It further informed that KPC, in collaboration with the NBOCWWB, would be organising an orientation workshop for the selected persons on August 31 at LCS Building in Kohima at 2 pm. Besides the selected fellows, all the members of KPC are also requested to attend the programme. ....
