Police Lieutenant Andy Ofalia, deputy chief of Police Station 2, said Monday that they are eyeing personal grudges or drug-related involvement as possible motives in the killing of Medelyn Benignos, a resident of Barangay 2.
He said before the incident, the victim, who has a stall at 888 Chinatown Square Mall, has a misunderstanding with the other stall owners in the area. She was also seen having a meeting with an identified drug personality in Bacolod.

This was stressed by Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) Chief Executive Officer Frank Carbon as he expressed alarm over the series of killings in Bacolod City.
Carbon said these incidents should not be treated as isolated cases or downgraded as everyday events.
