McDONOUGH — A call that came in early June was not the ordinary rescue mission to save a cat from a tree for Capt. Dale Matthias with the McDonough Fire
No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.
The Henry County and McDonough fire departments responded to the call at 7:55 p.m. and remained on scene until 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Assistant Chief Michael Black said the fire burned through the 800 buildingâs roof and the majority of the damage to the three-story building came from smoke and water.
Department personnel set up temporary lodging in the complexâs club house and the American Red Cross was on scene. A representative at the complex said theyâre working to place families into available apartments.
Black said a cause has not yet been determined and the fire was still under investigation by the McDonough Fire Department as of Wednesday evening.
