ANC shocked by arrest of Eastern Cape councillor for allegedly killing rival

The ANC says it is shocked at the arrest of one of its members implicated in killing a rival at the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela municipality in the Eastern Cape.
Lucky Mbuzi was arrested for allegedly having orchestrated the fatal shooting of Mduduzi Madikizela, who was his rival for a council spot. 
Contestation among ANC comrades has heightened as the country is preparing for local government elections later this year, while the ANC is having its own internal contests leading up to different regional, provincial and ultimately the national conference which will be held next year. ....

An African restaurant dream goes from vision to full tables for Nadia Nijimbere and Hamissi Mamba, who serve their first guests Saturday at the soft opening of Baobab Fare in Detroit.
Both dinner seatings are sold out, the immigrant entrepreneurs post Saturday morning. Can t tell you how heartwarming this is, they say on Facebook. We will have three more of these dinner events on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.    ....

ZAEL TEMBO takes a seat in the shade of a mango tree outside his house. He kicks up the dust. “It’s affected,” he says, pointing to the plume around his feet. The 67-year-old lives in Kabwe, a town in central Zambia whose history, like that of much of the southern African country, is intertwined with mining. Kabwe sprung up around a mine founded in 1904 by the Rhodesian Broken Hill Development Company, a British colonial firm. For decades miners like Mr Tembo crushed and burnt ore to extract lead. That metal made Kabwe but it also devastated it. To this day lead particles blow across town, making their way into houses and bloodstreams. ....
