Debating the 2021/22 budget estimates for the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the lawmakers, some of whom admitted to have been victims of the scams, wondered why the acts increased instead of disappearing. T he Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) initiated the mandatory biometric registration of mobile phone SIM cards in May 2019 in collaboration with the National Identification Authority (NIDA) so that every user is known by authorities. ....
