The Flora City Council is set to meet this afternoon at 4:30 at Flora City Hall. On the agenda, the council will approve the minutes the agenda for this afternoon's meeting as well as the consent agenda. From Mayor Rick Slaughter, the council will look at approving a resolution relating to the Illinois Municipal League's annual meeting, an ordinance authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with MABAS, and an ordinance amending the water and sewer rates for the city. From Commissioner Jeremy Henderson, the city will look to approve an ordinance to approve a lease agreement between the city and Clint Green with the Little Toot Railroad, going through April of 2024. From City Administrator Mike Stanford, the council will look at things from Crossroads Insurance Services, Rener Symerta Reinsurance, increase Health Insurance Funding of Premiums, look at an ordinance approving a TPA Agreement with Mutual Medical Plans Incorporated, starting June 1st and going through May of 2027, ....

The board will look to approve the consent agenda, including a request from Kari Thackrey of the First Christian Church for the 7th annual Flora's 6K for Water as well as a request for the approval of the farmers' market at Library Park on Saturdays from 8 AM until 12-noon starting May 6th and running thru September 30th. Under regular business, Mayor Rick Slaughter will recommend appointing Amy Allen and Anna Rounds to 2-year terms on the tourism committee and a resolution appointing a budget officer for the city. City Administrator Mike Stanford will look to request a resolution committing funds towards the unsewered communities Illinois EPA Permit Application. Stanford will also request an ordinance to approve an agreement between the city of Flora and Fehr, Graham, and Associates LLC for work. Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White's office is reminding the public that the extension on driver's license and state ID expiration dates ends soon. Drivers were given more time to get their licenses renewed during the pandemic, but that extension is coming to an end on December 1st. Valentine rejected a defense request to reduce the bond on an Altamont man accused of attempted murder in Edwards County. Sean Adam Curtiss, 42 had petitioned the court to have his bond reduced from the $1 million the court set on September 16. Fairfield Public School District #112 will conduct registration for all students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade on Tuesday, July 19, in the new cafeteria at North Side School, and NOT at Center Street School. This is a change from previous years. Please enter through the North door on the new addition. (Signs will be posted). The hours of registration will be from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. All students must register prior to the beginning of school. Horizon Healthcare will be on-site to provide School and/or Sports Physicals at no cost. No appointment necessary, but a parent does need to be present with student. For Pre-K students proof of household income is required at registration This is required by the State.
