City of Houston Signs Agreements with Kingdom of Denmark Focused on Furthering Efforts Related to Water, Climate Change, and Resilience
May 7, 2021 The City of Houston and the Kingdom of Denmark have formed a partnership to address the realities of our changing climate. On Monday, May 3, 2021, Mayor Sylvester Turner welcomed Her Excellency Lone Dencker Wisborg, Ambassador of Denmark to the US, to Houston City Hall.
To commemorate the occasion, the leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to share knowledge and best practices to address mutual concerns. The MOU commits to furthering both governments efforts to find resilient water management solutions, improve climate mitigation, advance environmental restoration, and develop efficient water and wastewater management practices. ....

Mayor Turner Partners with Faith Leaders and Labor Unions to Assist Houstonians Recovering from Winter Storm
February 28, 2021 An army of volunteers led by Mayor Sylvester Turner, the National Association of Christian Churches, and several labor unions provided relief supplies to thousands of Houstonians during a mass distribution Sunday afternoon.
Organizers planned the event to assist families recovering from the recent severe winter weather.
The mass distribution served more than an estimated three thousand vehicles and 10,000 people. As cars pulled into the NACC headquarters warehouse on Air Center Blvd, volunteers handed each occupant a hot lunch and placed cases of water, snacks, a meal kit to last four days, and other relief items in the backseat or trunk. ....
