Hoping to capitalize on a demand for flights to the country, American Airlines applied today to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for authority to fly nonstop from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Rio de Janeiro (GIG). Plans are to fly three times a week beginning November 18, 2010.
