Salina City Commissioner Melissa Rose Hodges will serve as the mayor of Salina in 2021 after a vote by the city commission Monday. Hodges has served as a commissioner since 2017 after filling the seat vacated by Randall Hardy in 2016. She was elected to the commission in 2017 and served as vice mayor for the 2020 commission year. In her opening remarks as mayor, Hodges said she was disappointed that her first meeting had to take place over Zoom rather than in person so that she could hand over a plaque of appreciation and gavel to the outgoing mayor, Commissioner Mike Hoppock.
