Chaotic scenes at the airport, in are thousands of people, not just american citizens, not just american diplomats but thousands of afghans that are trying to get out of that country and at this point the airport In Kabul is their best bet. There have been reports of gunfire at the airport and there has been video of some fatalities, some bodies at the airport. Of course, were working to confirm all of that right now to figure out exactly what is going on. What is clear is that it has been absolute mayhem and this hasty exit for the door caught the united states and allied countries offguard. All of this is happening while the taliban are in control of kabul and much of the country. Um, in 1996, when Bill Clinton was president , part of Northern Iraq fell into absolute crisis. The first Gulf War had happened, of course, under the previous president , george h. W. Bush. Gulf war 1. In the wake of that war, the Kurdish Population in iraq had, basically, risen up and revolted against the iraqi dictator, saddam hussein. Saddam responded by crushing them, and millions of kurdish iraqi fled into the mountains of Northern Iraq and toward the border with turkey. They were just trying to save themselves and their families. Turkey wouldnt let them cross the border. They really had nowhere else to go inside iraq. Meanwhile, saddam
